A young man was airlifted to a Twin Cities hospital after diving into shallow waters in southern Minnesota.

The incident happened on Lake Hanska, about 30 miles west of Mankato, Thursday afternoon, and saw a 19-year-old from Madelia dive into the water from a pontoon boat.

He was brought to the south landing where he was met by paramedics, with an air ambulance taking him to North Memorial Health Hospital in Robbinsdale.

The Brown County Sheriff's Office says he's believed to have suffered a possible neck or spinal injury.
