A Colorado man was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after the boat he was operating ran over and injured his girlfriend.

The Bemidji Pioneer reports the woman fell off the front of the vessel and passed under the boat. She was struck by the propeller that put a foot-long gash in her thigh and also injured her shoulder. The woman's name, age and condition were not available.

Lee Pratt Zitzer, 22, was charged with operating a motor vehicle while over the legal blood-alcohol limit. Beltrami Sheriff's officials say he registered an alcohol concentration of .099.

State public safety officials say alcohol is frequent contributor to boating accidents. The Department of Natural Resources logged 72 non-fatal accidents on the water last year.
