Police say they arrested a man in Anoka County after a standoff that stemmed from a dispute with his neighbor.
The incident unfolded on Friday evening in Spring Lake Park, with the Anoka County Sheriff's Office saying that it was called to a property in the 7700 block of Jackson Street Northeast around 5:40 p.m.
The caller said that his neighbor had been in a confrontation with him while displaying a rifle.
The 50-year-old neighbor then allegedly made a threatening comment, "then racked the bolt action of his rifle and dry fired the weapon into the air and retreated into his residence," per the sheriff's office.
It sparked a major response from local police departments including those in Fridley, Columbia Heights, Blaine, Coon Rapids, and Lino Lakes, with several neighboring homes evacuated.
Police say they heard gunshots from inside the suspect's home while negotiations were ongoing, prompting a SWAT team to be brought to the scene.
After several hours he surrendered and was taken into custody. He is now being held in Anoka County Jail facing charges of terroristic treats and reckless discharge of a firearm.
There was nobody else inside the property at the time of the incident, which remains under investigation.
