Law enforcement officials have arrested a suspect in connection with a recent series of armed robberies in Alexandria, WCCO reports.

A 27-year old Alexandria man was arrested Friday night, according to a statement released by the Alexandria Police Department. It gave no details on exactly when or where the arrest took place.

The robberies were committed at a Subway restaurant Feb. 23, Premiere Video on March 10 and a Super America convenience store Tuesday, the Fargo Forum reports.

In each case, the suspect – described as a man in his 20s, about 5-feet, 9-inches tall – entered the business shortly before closing time when a young female clerk was working. The suspect wore a mask and gloves, displayed a handgun, demanded cash and then tied the workers up in the back room, the Forum reports.

Alexandria Police Chief Rick Wyffels said the investigation involved several law enforcement agencies, including his department, sheriffs in neighboring counties, the Minnesota State Patrol, the BCA and the FBI.

The police are not releasing other details in the case at this time. The suspect is in custody and is awaiting formal charges.
