Man arrested following deadly Minneapolis apartment fire
A man has been arrested in connection with a deadly apartment fire that happened late Friday evening.
According to tweets from the Minneapolis Fire Department, crews responded to a structure fire at 1500 Park Ave. S. around 11 p.m.
The fire was extinguished, however officials say at least two residents attempted to escape by jumping from the third floor.
Minneapolis police later confirmed one man had died and a woman had been taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center with injuries. The woman is said to be in stable condition.
Saturday afternoon, officials announced a male suspect had been arrested and booked into Hennepin County Jail on probable cause murder charges. (GoMN generally does not name suspects before they've been charged.)
Officials told the Star Tribune, 30 residents have been displaced because of the fire.
The Minneapolis Police Department and fire department's arson units will continue the investigation.
