A known gang member that was charged for a tattoo depicting a Minneapolis police officer and posting a photo of it on Facebook now wants the tattoo removed.

The Pioneer Press reports the defense attorney for 20-year-old Antonio Jenkins Jr. told a Hennepin County judge Tuesday that they were exploring ways to remove the homemade tattoo, which shows a person holding a pistol in the mouth of a pig wearing a Minneapolis police uniform.

The tattoo includes the badge number and name J. Seidel, an officer that actively worked with the Bloods street gang.

Jenkins was charged with making terroristic threats for the benefit of a gang, a violation of his parole.

A spokesperson for the Department of Corrections tells the newspaper that there was once a grant that paid for juvenile offenders to get gang-related tattoos removed, but it no longer exists.

Jenkins' attorney requested that his bail be lowered to $5,000 from $60,000 so he can return to his job at a Shakopee pretzel shop and take steps to get the tattoo removed.

Prosecutors oppose the lower bail because of his active involvement in gang life.

The judge is expected to rule in a few days.
