A St. Paul man is facing a felony after allegedly raping a woman inside her home last weekend with her two children present.

The Pioneer Press reports 25-year-old Tyrone Joshua Thomas is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

According to charges, police were called to Burns Avenue near Earl Street last Saturday around 12:30 p.m. on a report of a suspicious man lurking in the area. They found a man later identified as Thomas.

As officers were speaking to the suspect, they heard a woman yell from a block north on Suburban Avenue.

The woman was hysterical and wrapped in a blanket. She told police she had just been sexually assaulted while two of her children were in the same room.

The victim reported Thomas entered her apartment while she was sleeping and threatened to kill her before the assault.

Thomas' background includes convictions for two first-degree burglaries in 2011, domestic assault, violation of an order for protection, fifth-degree assault and counterfeit checks last year, the newspaper reports.
