An extremely intoxicated Burnsville man on a mission to buy more alcohol now faces charges after crashing into a liquor store in December.

The Patch reports 56-year-old Keith Alan Potretzke faces two charges of gross misdemeanor DWI after the car he was driving hit the side of Big Discount Liquors in Burnsville around 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 5.

After the crash, Potretzke went inside the store where he attempted to purchase alcohol. Store employees refused to sell to him.

Witnesses say Potretzke was seen stumbling around the parking lot before taking off in his mangled car.

Two hours later, police were able to catch up with the man at a Bloomington restaurant where he worked. Potretzke first denied drinking alcohol that day and then eventually told officers he had been drinking very early in the morning.

According to the Patch, Potretzke's blood-alcohol content was .24, three times the legal limit to drive in Minnesota.

Each charge carries a maximum penalty of one year in prison and a $3,000 fine.
