A man has become the second in the space of a week to be charged with groping women on the University of Minnesota campus.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Habtamu Hambissa Ayana, 38, of St. Paul, who has been charged with one count of 5th degree criminal sexual conduct.

According to the criminal complaint, Ayana approached a woman on the U of M campus, at Delaware Street Southeast and Oak Street Southeast, on Sept. 1.

He introduced himself, saying he was an IT student at the U, and began complimenting the woman, taking her hands in his.

He wouldn't let go of her hands and then began hugging her, before kissing her on the cheek three times without her consent.

The victim told Ayana she had a boyfriend and had to leave, at which point he moved her hands onto the clothing over his genitals.

She pulled away and walked off, reporting the incident to the police and positively identifying Ayana from surveillance video.

The complaint says Ayana is known to university police "due to numerous other reports" of him approaching women he didn't know, holding their hands, hugging them and kissing them without consent.

He's the second man to be charged this week with a groping incident on the U of M campus.

The U of M police confirmed a 31-year-old man was arrested and charged for "forcefully grabbing" a woman from behind on the campus Tuesday lunchtime.
