A man has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting at a Pump N' Munch gas station in the Twin Cities last week.

Giovanni Vernell Williams, 23, of Brooklyn Center, has been charged with 2nd-degree murder over the shooting outside the gas station at the 1500 block of 69th Ave. N in Brooklyn Center last Wednesday.

A warrant for his arrest was issued on Monday, with Williams taken into custody on Tuesday.

Police say they are not seeking any more suspects.

The victim has since been identified as 45-year-old Dattreas Markeal Stewart, also of Brooklyn Center.

According to a criminal complaint, Stewart's girlfriend had arranged to sell an ounce of marijuana at the gas station to a man she identified as Williams.

Williams got into their SUV and asked to smell the marijuana, before telling Stewart he was being robbed, and shot him in the head.

Lifesaving efforts were attempted, but Stewart died at the scene.
