Man critical after double shooting near Target Field

A man has suffered life-threatening injuries after being one of two people shot near Target Field in downtown Minneapolis.

The incident was reported just after 2 a.m. Sunday, with shots fired inside a building on the 400 block of 2nd Avenue North, which is home to businesses including Rouge at the Lounge, Cowboy Jack's and Pizza Luce.

The building in which the shooting occurred hasn't been identified.

Officers arrived to find a "chaotic scene," as well as a man in his 20s who had suffered a gunshot wound. He wasn't breathing and didn't have a pulse.

A heartbeat was restored after chest compressions and chest seals by the officers at the scene, and he was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

A short time later, another man in his 20s walked into the emergency room at HCMC with a gunshot wound from the same incident.

Multiple witnesses have been interviewed, but no suspects have been arrested at this stage.

"Detectives worked through the night and will continue through the day to work on this case," a statement from Minneapolis PD said. "Among other things, they will also look to see if this incident is linked to any others from the weekend or recent past."
