Man crushed to death when jack slips during semi-truck wheel removal

It happened in Stearns County, Minnesota.

A man has died in a freak accident in Stearns County, when he was crushed by a semi-truck during a tire change.

According to the Stearns County Sheriff's Office, 54-year-old Joseph Edwin Pauly was killed in the incident at his home in rural Watkins, Luxemburg Township, just after 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

When responders arrived on the scene, they found Pauly pinned under his semi-truck. He was already dead.

They found he had been doing repair work on the semi and was using a hydraulic bottle jack to lift one of the axles as he removed one of the wheels.

The jack slipped out from under the truck, which then fell on Pauly.

Family members discovered the accident and called 911, with the Watkins Fire Department, Watkins Ambulance and Life Link Air Ambulance responding to the scene.
