Man dead after being struck by driver in central Minnesota

A 51-year-old Minnesota man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man was struck and killed by a motorist in rural Crow Wing County over the weekend. 

According to Crow Wing County Sheriff Scott Goddard, deputies were sent to the intersection of County Road 3 and County Road 109 in Mission Township around 6:40 p.m. Saturday. 

On arrival they located a man lying in the northbound lane of County Road 3. The 51-year-old Merrifield, Minnesota, man was pronounced dead at the scene. His full identity has not been released. 

The driver of the vehicle involved in the fatal crash cooperated with authorities, with Sheriff Goddard noting that the victim was dressed in black and may have been in the lane of traffic. 

The crash is still under investigation.
