Man dead after fight in south Minneapolis

Police are hunting a suspect wanted in connection with the death of a man following a fight in south Minneapolis on Thursday evening.

The altercation happened on East 25th Street and 1st Avenue South at 10:40 p.m, and found the "gravely injured" man on the street.

Officers and paramedics provided care before the man was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he died a short time later.

Minneapolis PD spokesman John Elder says that he was involved in a fight with an acquaintance, after they "had a disagreement" that turned physical.

The suspect fled the scene before police could arrive.

Police say they have spoken to a "number of cooperative witnesses," though no details have been released at this stage about the suspect.
