Man dead after shooting in Minneapolis' Powderhorn neighborhood

The man in his 30s was found with a gunshot wound.

Police are investigating a shooting in south Minneapolis that left a man dead.

Officers say they were called to the 3400 block of Elliot Avenue South, a block away from Powderhorn Park, at 6:44 a.m. Friday.

Callers said they heard shots fired and saw a male down on the block.

Police arrived and found a man believed to be in his 30s on the ground with a gunshot wound.

He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center by paramedics, where he died several hours later.

Minneapolis PD says the suspect fled the scene prior to arrival.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
