Man dead, woman injured in western Minnesota house fire

The woman was treated for smoke inhalation.

A man has died and a woman has been injured in a house fire in western Minnesota.

The Lac qui Parle County Sheriff's Office says it was called to the blaze at 612 5th Avenue in Madison, Minnesota, at 10:49 a.m. Wednesday.

Local fire and ambulance crews also attended the house fire, with an ambulance taking a woman to Madison Hospital for treatment on smoke inhalation.

Police say that a man was found dead in the property. At this stage, he hasn't been identified, nor has his cause of death.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Minnesota State Fire Marshal's Office, along with the sheriff's office.

Madison is a city with a population of just over 1,400 people, located about 60 miles west of Willmar.
