A man has died after being found shot in a parking lot in St. Paul on Thursday evening.

St. Paul police says officers were called to the parking lot of J&P Trading, an oriental food importer and wholesaler, in the 200 block of State Street at around 5:30 p.m.

They found a man with gunshot wounds to his head and torso, and he was taken to Regions Hospital.

But just before 11 p.m., St. Paul Police Department confirmed on Twitter that he had died from his injuries.

It marks the 30th homicide in St. Paul this year, with 2019 already the city's deadliest year for homicides in the past decade, outstripping the 24 killings in 2017.

The victim of the shooting has not been identified.

Police did say that they're investigating whether the shooting is linked to another incident shortly after, which saw a woman either falling out of or being pushed out of a moving van before it crashed into the fence at Oakland Cemetery.

A 37-year-old man was arrested at the scene, with the woman sustaining non-life threatening injuries.
