Man dies after being shot, crashing SUV in Minneapolis

A man was killed in Minneapolis on Thursday evening after being shot, and crashing his SUV as he fled the scene.

Police were alerted to the shooting by Shotspotter around 6:30 p.m., while calls to 911 reported multiple gunshots in the area of 1800 Russell Avenue North.

A white SUV was noticed speeding from the area, crashing two blocks away near 1600 Russell Ave. N.

In the driver's seat, police found a man who had been shot, who was taken to North Memorial Hospital, where he later died.

At this stage, the victim's identity has not been released, with crime scene investigators processing the scenes in both the 1600 and 1800 blocks of Russell Avenue North.

"Minneapolis homicide investigators are actively investigating the shooting," Minneapolis PD said.
