Police in St. Paul are investigating a fatal shooting in the Summit-University neighborhood on Friday morning.
Officers found a man lying in the street with an apparent gunshot wound at 9:10 a.m. at the intersection of Avon Street and Carroll Avenue, a block south of I-94.
The man was unresponsive, and was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
Speaking on Friday afternoon, St. Paul police said it was unusual for a shooting like this to happen in this neighborhood and at this time of day.
The identity of the victim hasn't been released yet, with the family not yet fully notified.
At this stage no arrests have been made, with police continuing to investigate.
It is the 11th homicide reported in St. Paul this year. The last one happened just under a month ago, on Aug. 12.
