A 74-year-old man is dead after getting trapped inside a grain bin near Belle Plaine.
The fatal incident happened Tuesday around 3:15 p.m. on a farm located northwest of Belle Plaine, on Hwy. 25 near 311th Ave. in Faxon Township, according to the Sibley County Sheriff's Office.
The 74-year-old was unloading soybeans from the grain bin when he was "trapped and engulfed" by the soybeans, the sheriff's office says.
First responders could not rescue the man before he died, with Southwest News Media reporting that efforts were made with shovels and a grain vacuum to free the man from the soybeans.
The victim's identity will be released at a later stage.
