Man dies after reports of shots fired in south Minneapolis

It was reported in a residential neighborhood.

Police have launched an investigation into the death of a man found with gunshot wounds in south Minneapolis.

Officers were sent to the area of East 37th Street and Clinton Avenue South, in the Central neighborhood, after the police Shot Spotter system was activated around 5:30 a.m. Saturday.

After searching the scene, officers found an injured man, and provided first aid until paramedics arrived. But he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have been canvassing the area for possible witnesses and evidence, as well as possible surveillance video.

The victim has not been identified, with their name and official cause of death expected to be released at a later stage by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.
