Man dies after shooting at home in St. Paul's Payne-Phalen neighborhood

It's the city's 14th homicide of the year.

St. Paul Police say they have arrested a 20-year-old woman in connection to the deadly shooting. No further information about the suspect has been released.

A man has died in St. Paul after being shot in a Payne-Phalen home on Monday morning.

The shooting was reported at 10:30 a.m. on the 1000 block of Sims Avenue, after a woman called 911 "frantically asking for an ambulance" before hanging up.

Seconds later, another 911 caller said someone had been shot and a woman was heard screaming in the background.

The man was found in the bedroom of the home with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to Regions Hospital, where he died at around 2 p.m.

Police are investigation who was in the house at the time of the shooting and what led up to it. At this point no suspects are in custody.

The victim will be identified by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner at a later stafe.

It's the 14th homicide in St. Paul so far in 2019.
