Man dies as altercation leads to stabbing, crash in downtown Minneapolis
A man has died and another has been arrested after an altercation in downtown Minneapolis resulted in a stabbing and a crash.
The incident unfolded at around 11:10 a.m. on the 500 block of South 8th Street.
"The preliminary investigation indicates that an altercation occurred between 2 individuals that resulted in a stabbing and a motor vehicle crash," Minneapolis PD said.
Three people were taken to nearby Hennepin County Medical Center, two of whom were in a critical condition, and the other suffering minor injuries.
One of the men in critical condition has since died, while the condition of the other critically injured man has since improved, and he's subsequently been arrested for probable cause murder.
Police say they're not looking for any more suspects at this stage, with the investigation into the incident continuing.
The victim's identity will be released at a later stage by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office, along with his cause of death.
This is the 47th homicide in Minneapolis in 2019, surpassing the 46 homicides in 2017. There were 33 homicides reported in 2018.
