A man who was one of six people shot in Minneapolis Tuesday evening died in the hospital on Wednesday, police say.
The man, in his mid-20s, was found lying on the ground in the 3200 block of 2nd Avenue South at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday, and was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center in a critical condition.
An update from Minneapolis Police Department on Wednesday evening confirms that the victim has died.
It was one of a flurry of reported shootings in the city on Tuesday, which included another fatality on the 2100 block of Emerson Avenue North.
It's the 31st homicide in the city so far in 2019, and comes amid a surge of violent crime over the past six weeks.
On Wednesday it was announced by the U.S. Attorney's Office in Minnesota that a new task force designed to tackle the outbreak of crime in the Twin Cities was being launched, featuring federal, state and local partners including the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
