Man dies in south Minneapolis house fire
A man died and another was injured in a house fire in south Minneapolis Thursday afternoon.
The incident was reported to Minneapolis Fire Department at 3:20 p.m. on the 2500 block of East 24th Street, the Seward neighborhood.
When firefighters arrived, flames were coming from the first floor of the house, with crews finding a man on the first floor who died from his injuries at the scene.
A second man found on the second floor was removed from the building and treated at the scene by paramedics.
The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
Minnesota last year saw a rise in fatal fires with 53 people losing their lives to them, the highest number since 68 in 2017.
