Man dies shortly after serious assault in northern Minnesota
A reported assault is under investigation after a man in northern Minnesota died of his injuries.
Just before midnight on June 7, the Cass County Sheriff's Office received word of an assault that left a victim in grave condition. The 25-year-old victim was transported to the Cass Lake Indian Health Services Hospital where he died a short time later.
Authorities from the sheriff's department and Leech Lake Tribal Police searched two homes in Pike Bay Township in rural Cass Lake, but it's unclear if any arrests were made.
The victim will undergo an autopsy at the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office and the assault is still under investigation with support from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
