Man drowned in apartment swimming pool on Christmas Day

A 27-year-old man died at a Hopkins apartment complex on Christmas Day by drowning in a swimming pool.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed on Thursday that Gideon Yalley, 27, of Hopkins, died at the Greenfield Apartments clubhouse pool at 920 Feltl Court.

The incident was reported just before 8 p.m. on Dec. 25.

The medical examiner has ruled his cause of death as freshwater drowning, and the manner of death was an accident.

It's the second death involving an indoor pool in the past six weeks, after 4-year-old Lamyah Reece drowned in a pool at the AmericInn in Mounds View during a party.
