A man drowned entering the water on Lake Superior shortly after displaying "odd behavior," police said.

The incident happened 2:16 p.m. Saturday when police and the Coast Guard were called to a report of trespassing at CN Property near the Ore Docks in Duluth.

A man was "reported to be exhibiting odd behavior" and when police arrived to check on him, "he entered the water, going under and never resurfaced."

He was pulled to shore by Duluth firefighters and taken to a Duluth-area hospital by Mayo Ambulance, but died from his injuries.

Few details are known about the man except he is around 45 years old, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office said.
