There was a flurry of police activity in downtown Wednesday morning.

UPDATE 10:40 A.M.

Original story

Police officers and sheriff's deputies were scrambled into action in downtown Minneapolis Wednesday morning when a suspect escaped a detention center.

Michael Simon, 57, has been held in the Hennepin County Adult Detention Center since Sept. 25 on suspicions of card fraud and a Department of Corrections hold for burglary.

At around 7 a.m., the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office said he escaped from the detention center in downtown Minneapolis.

It prompted a flurry of law enforcement activity across downtown as they conducted a coordinated search for him.

As of 10 a.m., he has still not been caught, and the public is being asked to help find him.
