Minneapolis police have fatally shot a driver during a traffic stop on Wednesday evening.

Details are still being released, but the incident happened shortly after 6 p.m. in the area of 36th Street East and Cedar Avenue South.

Police say it carried out a traffic stop for a felony suspect and there was an "exchange of gunfire."

The apparent suspect, the driver of the vehicle, was killed in the exchange. A female passenger is not believed to have been shot, nor were any officers.

The incident happened near the Holiday gas station at 3550 Cedar, half a block away from Matt's Bar.
