A man was killed at a home near Bemidji Sunday in an incident that briefly sparked a shelter in place order.
The Beltrami County Sheriff's Office says it received a 911 call from the victim at 3:25 p.m., with the victim saying he'd been shot at a home in the 11000 block of Chokecherry Dr NE in Turtle River Township, around nine miles northeast of Bemidji.
Officers arrived at the home to find the man dead. His identity will be released at a later date.
Although the sheriff's office does not believe there's an active threat to the community, it did issue a brief CodeRed shelter in place alert to local residents until they were certain.
"The Sheriff’s Office believes this was an isolated event and there is not a threat to the public."
No arrests have yet been made.
