Police are investigating and shutting out bad information after a fatal shooting on Interstate 94 in Brooklyn Center Saturday night.
Brooklyn Center police Command Garett Flesland issued a release explaining that the shooting happened at approximately 9:30 p.m. on I-94, south of I-694. Officers arrived to find a man suffering a from a gunshot wound.
Police provided emergency aid a the scene before the victim was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
There were multiple reports via social media saying a child had been shot.
"The victim was not a child; he was an adult male," Flesland wrote in an email, also noting that he was dispelling rumors that the shooting may have involved a police officer.
"I had heard a couple of rumors circulating earlier tonight about this incident and wanted to be sure to provide accurate information," Flesland wrote.
Several people were arrested at and near the scene of the shooting, and no other suspects are being sought, according to police.
The victim's identity has not been released.
