Man flees police, tries to hide in swamp to avoid arrest
A man who fled police in a stolen vehicle hid in a swamp to evade arrest but was tracked down by a K-9.
In a series of tweets on Monday, the Chisago County Sheriff's Office highlighted the series of "mistakes" the suspect made that led to his arrest on Saturday, starting with the suspect trying to sell a vehicle, claiming it was stolen.
The North Branch Police Department responded to a call about the incident. An officer located the vehicle in Harris, and the driver fled.
But the suspect got the vehicle stuck in a ditch and then ran into a wooded area.
Chisago County Sheriff's Deputy Jake Johnson and his K-9 named Ghost responded to the scene, where Ghost tracked the suspect to a swamp, where he was hiding.
The suspect, who hasn't been identified, was arrested and booked into jail in connection to 13 charges, including an outstanding warrant.
The vehicle he was trying to sell had been stolen in southeastern Minnesota earlier that day.
