Man found dead after house fire in northern Minnesota

The 63-year-old has been identified by police.

A man has died after a fire in a home in northern Minnesota.

The call came in around 10:30 p.m. Monday, with the Clearwater County Sheriff's Office receiving a report of smoke coming from the roof of a house along Minnesota Hwy. 92, nine miles south of Bagley.

The Bagley Fire Department arrived a short time later, extinguishing the blaze.

After the fire was put out, police found the owner of the home, Gerald LaPlaunt, 63, dead inside.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Minnesota State Fire Marshal's Office.
