Police say that the death of a man whose body was found in his back yard in Apple Valley was likely caused by a firework.
Apple Valley Police Department says that the discovery of the man's body was made at 10 a.m. on 4th of July in the 12500 block of Gavotte Avenue.
Officers arrived to find the man "obviously deceased," and music could be heard playing inside the home, but nobody else was inside.
According to an Apple Valley PD update: "An investigation revealed the victim had been drinking alcohol and lighting aerial fireworks off near his home.
"Investigators surmised the victim was holding a mortar tube used to launch the fireworks and when it fired, the firework shot out the bottom of the tube striking the man in the head."
The victim's identity is expected to be released at a later stage by a medical examiner.
