Man found dead in Minneapolis from 'act of violence'

A woman was also fatally shot Sunday morning.

A man was found dead from an "act of violence" on Sunday night in North Minneapolis. 

Minneapolis police officers at 8:27 p.m. Sunday responded to a report of a person not breathing in the area of the 2400 block of Golden Valley Road. 

They arrived and found a man who was dead. 

"Evidence located at the scene indicated that the victim succumbed to an act of violence," the MPD said in a news release. 

No other details about the man's death were provided, but police did say they've begun a death investigation and officers canvassed the area, speaking with "several" people.

The medical examiner will release the man's identity and his cause of death in the coming days.

Woman killed in shooting Sunday morning

A woman was killed in a shooting in Minneapolis Sunday morning. 

The Minneapolis Police Department said in a news release that police were notified of a ShotSpotter notification at 6:22 a.m. on the 3200 block of Logan Avenue North. 

When they arrived, police found a woman in the street suffering from a gunshot wound. 

She was brought to the hospital, where she died a few hours later. The medical examiner will identify the woman in the coming days.

Due to the seriousness of the woman's injuries, homicide investigators were already on the scene.
