Man found dead in north Minneapolis, homicide investigation underway

The man appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound, police say.

Minneapolis Police are investigating another homicide following a late-night incident Wednesday in north Minneapolis. 

Officers were sent to the 2700 block of Irving Ave. N. at 11:20 p.m. and upon arrival they found a man dead inside a residence. Police say the man appeared to have been shot. 

The identity of the victim and cause of death will be announced at a later stage by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office. 

Homicide investigators checked for possible witnesses, evidence and potential surveillance video, while the Minneapolis Crime Lab processed the scene for evidence. 

The MPD Homicide Unit is actively investigating and is asking the public to come forward with any tips or information by calling CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477. All tips can be submitted anonymously and information that leads to an arrest may be eligible for a financial reward.
