A report of an abandoned vehicle led to the discovery of a body in rural west-central Minnesota.
When Chippewa County sheriff's deputies responded early Friday afternoon, they began a search for 62-year-old Brian Fischer — ultimately finding him dead "in the area of the abandoned vehicle."
An investigation is now underway, the Chippewa County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.
Fischer was a resident of Clara City, Minnesota, also located in Chippewa County.
Few details surrounding the case have been disclosed, but the local sheriff says it does not believe Fischer's death "was a result of criminal activity."
His body was transported to the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office in Ramsey, Minnesota, to determine official cause of death.
