The man found dead on a bike trail on West River Parkway in Minneapolis Tuesday morning has been identified as a 21-year-old.

Burka Osman Mohammed, of Minneapolis, died of multiple sharp force injuries at approximately 11:50 p.m. Monday, and his death has been ruled a homicide, according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.

Mohammed's body was found around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday on the 200 block of West River Parkway, with police saying he had "suffered trauma," was not breathing and had no heartbeat.

Lifesaving efforts at the scene proved unsuccessful.

"Officers and investigators canvassed the surrounding areas and spoke with people who may have heard or seen something," said Minneapolis Police Department spokesman John Elder.

No arrests have been made and it's unclear if police have identified any suspects.
