Man found shot to death after confrontation in north Minneapolis

Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting on the north side of Minneapolis.

It happened just before 2 a.m. Saturday morning on the 1100 block of Irving Avenue North, where the city's ShotSpotter system detected gunfire, summoning police. 

While they were on their way to the scene, 911 calls came in reporting a shooting there, according to a press release. After the officers arrived, they found an adult male deceased inside a residence. 

The suspect had fled the scene prior to the officers' arrival, the release notes.

Police believe there had been confrontation between the shooter and the victim, but no other details about the circumstances of the shooting or the suspect have been released.

The deceased, and his specific cause of death, will be identified in the coming days.
