Man goes into house, kills himself after police arrive to serve court papers
A man shot himself dead in Montevideo on Monday, shortly after police had arrived to serve him court papers.
The incident happened on the 7000 block of County Road 15 in Chippewa County just before 9 p.m., with deputies arriving to carry out a court paper service involving the resident.
The man, a 44-year-old, went inside to gather his belongings and exit the house, but it was at this point that a single gunshot was heard from inside.
Police entered the home and found that the man had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
A female, who was also inside the house, was protected by police while deputies secured the scene.
The victim's identity has not been revealed, nor has the nature of the legal proceedings he was facing.
