Lyle "Ty" Hoffman – the man currently serving time for killing his ex-boyfriend and then leading police on a monthlong manhunt – pleaded guilty to robbing a bank while on the run.

Hoffman had pleaded guilty to fatally shooting local attorney Kelly Phillips at an Arden Hills gas station on Aug. 11, 2014, and was sentenced to more than 25 years in state prison.

Last month, Hoffman was charged with armed robbery after prosecutors say he used a gun to demand about $20,000 from a teller at a TCF Bank in Blaine on Aug. 31, 2014. Police at the time said they believed Hoffman was behind the robbery.

He pleaded guilty to the robbery Wednesday, KSTP reports. At the hearing, Hoffman said he was handed about $12,000 in cash, the Star Tribune reports.

Hoffman's attorney says she will ask the judge that at least part of his bank robbery sentence be run concurrently with his second-degree murder sentence, the paper notes. There will be an investigation into his bank robbery plea before he is sentenced; no date for that hearing has been set.

Hoffman, after shooting Phillips three times, went on the run for a month. Police finally caught up with Hoffman thanks to a tip from an alert citizen, and arrested him on Sept. 11, 2014, near an Arby’s in Shakopee.
