Man injured, black bear dies after motorcycle collision on I-35
A motorcyclist was thrown from his bike on Interstate 35 after striking a bear – which was killed in the collision.
The Minnesota State Patrol said that 48-year-old Edmund Hanson, of Brook Park, was traveling north on I-35 near Pine City, between the Twin Cities and Duluth, when he struck a small black bear.
According to the Duluth News Tribune, Hanson flew off his 2003 Kawasaki motorcycle, but was wearing full protective gear that limited his injuries.
He was airlifted to North Memorial Center in Robbinsdale, but his injuries are not considered life-threatening.
The Pioneer Press reports that the bear was killed in the collision, adding that sightings of black bears are common in the Pine City area.
