A man trying to avoid arrest jumped into a lake Tuesday morning – and was later arrested.
The Richfield Police Department responded to a call reporting a suspicious person at 6527 Portland Ave. S. around 7 a.m., but the man fled and entered Legion Lake, police said on Facebook.
Multiple agencies responded to try and locate the man, and police formed a perimeter around the area in Veterans Memorial Park.
Just before 8:30 a.m., a Hennepin County K-9 located the man on an island in the lake, and he was arrested without incident, police said.
The man also had an outstanding felony warrant in Anoka County, Hennepin County Jail Records show.
And if this story sounds familiar, well that's because it seems to happen fairly often.
A man tried the same thing while being pursued by police in Duluth last month. And in June, a suspect in Lakeville evaded police by jumping into a lake, and was later found almost completely naked. Then promptly arrested.
