Man killed, 4 children injured in off-road vehicle crash near MN-WI border

One of the injured children was airlifted to a Rochester hospital.

An adult man from Arkansas was killed and four children injured in an off-road vehicle crash that happened near the Minnesota-Wisconsin border.

The Trempealeau County Sheriff's Office says first responders were called to the Town of Albion (near Eleva, Wisconsin) around 5:30 p.m. Sunday. A 911 caller reported a crash on private property at N48978 Thomspon Road.

First responders arrived to find five injured parties.

One adult, a 57-year-old man named James Fridell, died at the scene as a result of his injuries. Fridell, from Arkansas, was a passenger in the UTV.

Four juveniles - whose names and ages were not provided - were found injured at the scene. One was airlifted to a hospital in Rochester via Mayo Clinic helicopter.

The conditions of the four juveniles were not given. The sheriff's office says it is still investigating.

Campfire explosion injures 4 children in southern Minnesota

Four children were injured in a campfire explosion Friday night at the Money Creek Haven Campground in Houston. Authorities said the accident was caused by an adult who poured an accelerant on a smoldering campfire. A 4-year-old girl was airlifted to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, while the other three -- one by air -- were taken to a La Crosse, Wis., hospital.
