Young man killed after being thrown from vehicle in Wadena County crash

The 19-year-old from rural Sebeka died Thursday morning.

UPDATE FRI: The driver killed in the crash in Wadena County has been identified as 19-year-old Austin Bacon, of rural Sebeka, Minnesota.

A man died in a Thursday morning crash in Wadena County when he was ejected from his vehicle.

The Wadena County Sheriff's Office was called to the crash near the intersection of County Road 20 and 182nd Street in Bullard Township, east of Wadena, just after 7:30 a.m.

Upon arriving, they found it was a single vehicle crash and the driver had died at the scene.

The driver, a man who has not yet been formally identified, had been thrown from his vehicle. 

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the sheriff's office, with the victim's identity expected to be released at a later stage by the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office.

There have now been 349 confirmed fatalities on Minnesota's roads in 2018, just nine short of the 358 in total there were in 2017. This time last year, there had been 325 road deaths.
