Man killed, another man escapes through window in central Minnesota house fire

The victim is a 59-year-old man from Foley.

A central Minnesota man died in a house fire on Sunday, Oct. 7. 

According to the Benton County Sheriff's Office, the Foley Fire Department arrived at the fire in the 14200 block of 78th Street Northeast, Maywood Township, at around 6 p.m. on Sunday. 

There was heavy smoke pouring out of the home as they got there, and firefighters were approached by a man who said he jumped from a second floor window to escape the fire.

Sadly, another man didn't make it out, and his body was discovered by firefighters as they worked their way inside the home.  

The victim has been identified as Bruce Edward Linn, 59, of Foley.

According to his obituary, Linn was a native of Foley, playing football and wrestling at Foley High School. He was a skilled woodworker and cabinet maker.

He's survived by his wife, Mary, six children and nine grandchildren.

The State Fire Marshall's Office is investigating the cause of the fire and cause of Linn's death.
