A man was killed in western Wisconsin when a wagon tire exploded as he worked on it.

The man, who has not yet been identified, died on a farm in Spring Brook Township in Dunn County just after 8:30 a.m. on Friday.

He suffered fatal head trauma as he changed a wheel on a wagon that is used to haul silage, the Dunn County Sheriff's Office said.

He was in the process of inflating the tire when it depressurized, causing the escaping air to launch the tire and rim directly at the man.

Responders arrived to find he'd suffered severe head injuries, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation, with the deceased's name expected to be released once family has been notified.
