The man who was fatally pinned by a tree in Minnetonka on Monday was longtime Twin Cities cameraman Dan Dettman.

Dettman, 68, was working for Fox Sports North, having previously been employed as a cameraman and photographer for KSTP-TV and Channel 5.

"May I share with you that tonight's telecast was one of the toughest I've ever done," said Twins announcer Dick Bremer during Tuesday night's broadcast. "Dan Dettman loved what he did...loved his family and was a joy to be around. My life has been enriched by his. I'm profoundly saddened."

According to Minnetonka Police Department, Dettman was working in his yard on the 11200 block of Timberline Road when a tree that had been uprooted in a recent storm rolled and pinned him.

Police arrived at the scene just before 4 p.m. Monday, at which point Dettman had succumbed to his injuries.

"Just shocking, heartbreaking news to hear of his passing," said Fox Sports North's Marney Gellner, who added that Dettman was the "nicest man" who always called her "my dear."
