The victim of a fatal motorcycle crash in Bloomington on Sunday morning has been identified as Marcus Fiori, a father-of-three children who was on his way home from work at the time of the accident.
According to the State Patrol, Fiori was riding a Honda motorcycle westbound on Interstate 494 when he lost control and hit the median near I-35W before colliding with a car in the eastbound lanes of 494.
The 37-year-old was wearing a helmet when the crash happened around 3:30 a.m. Sunday. A GoFundMe for Fiori's longtime girlfriend and three children – ages 13, 8 and 18 months – explains that he was on his way home from work at Cowboy Jack's.
"Everyone knew Marcus. If you ever went anywhere with him, there was always someone he would run into that he had his own story with. He meant so much to so many people," the GoFundMe story reads.
"He touched the hearts of so many people and left an enormous imprint on everyone he ever spoke with. He was the person we could always count on to be there, no matter the time, no matter what for. We will all miss the smile that lit up any room, his laugh that was infectious, and his demeanor that made everyone feel so welcome and loved."
As of this writing, the online fundraiser had generated over $12,300. All of the money will support his family.
Plans are in the making for a joint memorial for Fiori and his mother, who passed away earlier this year, the GoFundMe notes.
